Facebook has launched a stand-alone community site called ‘Facebook Studio’ where ad agency creatives can share ideas, comment on campaigns and learn what it takes to create a successful page for a brand.
The community platform is aimed at agencies, PR firms and media strategy companies.
The site will focus on best practices and highlight quality campaigns uploaded by the creators of the content.
Until now, Facebook has been mostly hands-off with agencies, but the company hops that ‘Studio’ will be a first step in a give-and-take dialogue between the social network and the creative advertising world.
The site includes a showcase of Facebook campaigns such as Skittles Mob the Rainbow and the Heineken Trophy Hunt, as well as educational materials to help agencies and brands strengthen their Facebook strategies.
Facebook Studio includes:
• A sortable gallery by most recently uploaded campaigns; most liked campaigns; most shared campaigns; region and language; what friends are saying
• A spotlight section highlighting the very best work submitted to Facebook Studio. All work promoted to the Spotlight is eligible for a Facebook Studio award
• A learning lab to understand the latest and greatest tools marketers can use to build their brands
• An agency directory to filter campaigns by agency and brand
Agencies and marketers can submit their work by clicking on the “Submit Your Work” tab on the top right-hand corner of the homepage.
Chris Clarke, Chief Creative Officer, LBi, said: “It’s great to see Facebook providing a resource for agencies to show off all the great work that’s happening on the platform. It makes sound business sense to showcase the good stuff and it’s a fantastic resource for the industry as we all try to figure out how to get the most from what is a unique global asset.”
In addition, Blake Chandlee has been appointed head of Facebook’s newly formed agency relations team.
A team was hired in August to facilitate agency relations and met with shops for the past six months to learn what they needed. Along with the website, Facebook is holding events called Studio Live — hackathon-style problem solving and “best in show” sessions.
A Toronto event took place earlier this year with Publicis, Interpublic, Omnicom, WPP and Havas in attendance. The next Facebook Studio Live event is planned for May 12 in New York.
