Contextual digital advertising company Smartology has appointed John Pentin to the newly-created role of VP Global Sales as it continues its expansion. Pentin has previously held senior strategic sales roles at publishers including CNBC, Bloomberg and Newsweek.
Smartology’s bespoke technology platform, SmartMatchTM, which uses semantic profiling to match each item of an advertiser’s branded content with editorial pages on the same or closely-related topics, won the 2016 British Media Awards for Tech Provider of the Year.
Pentin comments: “I am delighted to join Smartology at this pivotal stage in its development. An innovative and fast growing company with huge potential, its platform provides advertisers with greater engagement and performance at a time when they are demanding more accountability. Having seen SmartMatch in action for advertising clients at both Bloomberg and CNBC, I am looking forward to developing global partnerships in which clients, agencies and publishers all benefit.
Mark Bembridge, CEO at Smartology, says: “John brings an enviable track record to this new role with extensive experience at Newsweek, Bloomberg and CNBC and strong relationships with both media owners and agencies. A great cultural fit for the business, he will work closely with the European sales team and support our US and APAC Managing Directors as we put processes in place that will enable us to maximize our potential and continue to expand globally.”
