Jeremy Clarkson has taken a swipe at his former BBC employers, in a TV advert for new employer Amazon.
The presenter and his former Top Gear co-stars, Richard Hammond and James May, have signed up to front a new motoring show for the retailer, in a three-year deal said to be worth £160million.
In the advert, the TV presenter rides on a Segway stating: “Back in the spring as you probably remember, I suddenly became unbusy, and that was OK because I had one of these,” an Amazon Fire Stick.
The advert, which is set to air on ITV during the Rugby World Cup final tomorrow, ends with a photograph of Clarkson, Hammond and May in a publicity shot for their still-unnamed motoring show, at which point Clarkson declares the device is ‘perfect’.
It comes just weeks after Clarkson shared a picture from the first day of filming the new show, which is set to launch on streaming service Amazon Prime next year.
The slot also alerts users that Amazon Prime is the only place they can catch Clarkson and co’s as yet untitled car series.
Amazon Prime is reported to have spent £160m for 36 episodes, an average of £4.5m per episode.
