Brian McBride, managing director of Amazon’s UK business, is quitting to undergo treatment for prostate cancer.
McBride will be replaced by Christopher North, who was previously Vice President for Media Products at the company.
McBride, who joined US-based Amazon in 2006 from phone firm T-Mobile, said it was time to focus on his medical condition but that his doctor was optimistic.
Amazon’s international retail boss Diego Piacentini said: “We respect his decision to step down at this time – he will be missed.”
