Reality TV star Kylie Jenner has been named the highest earner on an Instagram rich list, estimated to make $1m (£760,000) per sponsored post.
Social media is becoming increasingly powerful when it comes to influencing a consumer’s buying decisions and celebrities are often found to be the driving factor behind it.
Celebrities, including actors, models and sportspersons, are undoubtedly raking in huge moolah by acting as social media influencers.
Instagram scheduler HopperHQ has compiled its 2018 Instagram rich list which tells you who is making how much with each post and who is leading the charts on the social media app.
HopperHQ is an Instagram planning and scheduling tool that analyzes internal and publicly available data to calculate how much celebrities and influencers can charge for a post on the social media platform.
Its calculations factor in average engagement, how often a user posts, and their number of followers.
Last year, Jenner was fourth in the list, two spots below sister Kim Kardashian. This year, however, the youngest of the Jenner-Kardashian clan has stormed into first place, with her 2017 $400,000 per post valuation booming to $1 million in 2018. Selena Gomez trails in second at $800,000 per post, with Ronaldo in third at $750,000 per post. Kardashian and Beyoncé round out the top five, valued at $720,000 and $700,000 per post respectively. Assuming HopperHQ’s data is accurate, this is the very definition of “easy money.”
Singers Beyonce and Justin Bieber, actor Dwayne Johnson and footballers Neymar and Cristiano Ronaldo also made the top 10.
However, marketers tend to be secrerive about how much they pay, or the posts may be part of a wider deal – as is often the case with A-list celebrities or sports stars – so the exact amounts are not known.
Jenner, 20, who has 111 million Instagram followers, is reportedly on track to becoming the youngest ever self-made billionaire.
The success of her make-up line, Kylie Cosmetics, has helped her rise to first place in 2018 after being ranked fourth last year.
Other members of the Kardashian clan, Kendall Jenner and Khloe Kardashian, come in 10th and 11th respectively.
