YouTube has released its Rewind video to mark the end of this year, putting together this year’s most popular videos and memes into one seven-minute video.
“Welcome back to YouTube Rewind,” The Late Show host Stephen Colbert says. “We’ve got two special guests with us. OK, Lele and Liza, tell me about 2017.”
YouTube Rewind is a video mashup that summarises all of the major talking points of the year – from hit singles to viral apps.
Big names in the YouTuber world usually make an appearance, and there are multiple dancing segments to look forward to.
This year, people predicted that Jake Paul’s Everyday Bro video would appear, as well as Dua Lipa’s New Rules.
Other viral video trends include Despacito by Luis Fonsi ft. Daddy Yankee, James Corden’s Carpool Karaoke and Ed Sheeran’s hit single Shape Of You.
Top of the trending music video list for the year were songs such as DJ Khaled – I’m The One and Wild Thoughts, Clean Bandit – Symphony feat Zara Larsson and Little Mix – Touch.
The public also enjoyed such moments as the birth of Tajiri the giraffe and the rise of fidget spinners.
Creators, trends, artists and music featured in YouTube 2017 include:
- Luis Fonsi ft. Daddy Yankee – Despacito
- Ed Sheeran – Shape Of You
- Fidget spinners
- Joe Sugg, YouTuber Zoella’s brother
