Ahead of the UK snap election tomorrow, research reveals that Labour’s Jeremy Corbyn was the most searched political leader online in the UK, accounting for 50.27% of all searches in Britain, with Theresa May coming in second with 36.14% of searches.
Captify, which analyses 33bn searches a month, also found that The Labour party were also the most searched political party in the UK last week, followed by UKIP.
Key findings:
- For the month of May, Labour was the most searched for party, accounting for 54% of all online searches for UK political parties, followed by
- The Conservatives (39%) and The Liberal Democrats (7%)
- 94% of online searches for Theresa May in the same month were negative, versus 68.6% of searches for Jeremy Corbyn being positive
- Labour’s manifesto was the most searched for online since the election was called
Captify analysed 33 billion online monthly searches found that from the 25th May until the 31st May 2017:
Labour leader Jeremy Corbyn was the most search political leader online in the UK, accounting for 50.27% of all searches in Britain
Prime Minister and The Conservatives leader Theresa May was the second most searched for, accounting for 36.14% of all searches.

Overall for the month of May, 94% of online searches for Theresa May were negative (versus 6% positive). This was contrasted by 68.6% of searches for Jeremy Corbyn being positive (versus 31.4% negative)
In addition to this, during the same time period Captify measured which political party was the most searched and discovered that:
Labour once more came out on top, accounting for 40.5% of all online searches in the UK.

Finally, Captify also measured which were the most researched political party manifestos since the election was called. It found that the public searched the most online Labour’s manifesto (53.99% of all searches), followed by The Conservatives (40.43%), The Liberal Democrats (4.8%), UKIP (0.32%), The SNP (0.25) and The Green Party (0.20%).
