YouTube has revealed the top video trends of the year, including Carpool Karaoke and the Mannequin Challenge.
Since 2012, the Google-owned video sharing site has released and annual “YouTube Rewind” video, featuring the stars behind some of the year’s biggest memes.
The “Rewind” series regularly attracted more than 100 million views, so it’s hugely lucrative to make it onto the list (or the mash-up video).
The top trending video was James Corden singing with Adele on Carpool Karaoke, followed by a song by Japanese comedian Pikotaro.
Work From Home by American girl group Fifth Harmony featuring Ty Dolla $ign was the most popular music video, with 1.18 billion videos.
This year, for the first time, YouTube is offering a Rewind quiz about the creators and memes featured, and also providing an interactive guide that details the data, trends, and backstories behind each and every reference.
