The rise of connected TV in the US (infographic)

As more people in the US shift their viewing habits from cable TV to web-based alternatives such as Netflix and Chromecast, this infographic from Tremor Video looks at the US connected TV universe by demographics and media consumption habits.

Key findings:
• Only 14% of people watching video via connected TV devices are 18-34 men (oft considered the key early tech adopter group)
• 35% of connected TV devices are in the bedroom compared to 55% in the living room
• Larger screens equal longer sessions: smartphones and tablets trail behind desktops/laptops in terms of time spent viewing clips per week.
The average American watches:
o Smartphones = 6 hours of video a week
o Tablets = 7.5 hours
o Laptops = 9.3 hours
o Desktops = 11.8 hours
