Sky posts DVDs to subscribers with ‘Buy & Keep’ scheme

Sky has announced a new ‘Buy to Keep’ service that lets subscribers buy a film through their set-top box to watch immediately, with Sky also posting them a copy of the movie on DVD to keep in their collection.

Under the scheme, users will also be able to redownload the movie at any point in the future, and Sky plans to offer the movies to stream and download through their tablet and smartphone apps in the future.
Ian Lewis, Director of Sky Movies and Acquisitions, noted that Sky customers are responsible for about 50 per cent of the UK’s DVD and Blu-ray purchases. This, he said, shows they “love owning movies”.
“With Sky Store Buy & Keep, we’re now offering our customers yet another way to enjoy the best in movies,” he commented.
Nicola Bamford, Director of Sky Store, added that the move should make it even easier for those who like to purchase films to “do it straight from your sofa”.
She described Buy & Keep as the “perfect solution” for film lovers who want to enjoy the latest movies on their TV immediately, while the option of receiving a physical DVD copy in the post is an “added benefit”.
