Twitter founder Biz Stone has co-founded a new app that helps people to pose and answer questions illustrated by photographs.
Jelly is designed to “search the group mind of your social networks” by asking questions which are then shared via social networks, email or text messages. Contacts can then leave comments on the question, hopefully solving the original query.
Stone also helped to launch the Blogger service which was bought by Google in 2003.
He co-founded Jelly Industries in 2012 and has this week launched the free app on iOS and Android.
He explained how the app works in a blog post on the company’s website: “Say you’re walking along and you spot something unusual. You want to know what it is so you launch Jelly, take a picture, circle it with your finger, and type, ‘What’s this?’
“That query is submitted to some people in your network who also have Jelly. Jelly notifies you when you have answers.
“Jelly is designed to search the group mind of your social networks—and what goes around, comes around. You may find yourself answering questions as well as asking.”
