Lightmaker revamps Wayne Rooney’s official website

Agency Lightmaker has relaunched Premier League Footballer Wayne Rooney’s official website using responsive design to cater for multi-platform viewing.

Originally launched in June 2012 to coincide with Wayne’s first England game at the Euro 2012 Championships against the Ukraine, the fresh new site has been updated and tailored to provide fans with unique content that cannot be found anywhere else.
Client Triple S Sports & Entertainment (Rooney’s Management Company) required a site to serve as a media hub for Rooney’s fan base, whilst also incorporating a commercial backdrop for his current principle sponsors, new ventures and future sponsorship opportunities. The sites primary objective is the consolidation of Rooney’s digital activity, serving as a portal for all his social media feeds including Twitter, Facebook and You Tube.
Lightmaker’s brief was to redesign the site and the creation of dynamic content therein. Visually it moves the site from being a landing site to one that is engaging and full of life, whilst being optimised for viewing across multiple platforms. Whether the user is on their smart phone at a match or at home on the desktop the experience remains the same.
Among the new features are a new stats section provided by OPTA, highlight Wayne’s career stats, stats from the last match and a preview of the next game coming up. They animate accordingly, bringing the site to life.
In addition, a revamped news section providing live and current content, keeping the site fresh with the latest updates. In the gallery, renewed images divided into categories, enable the consumer to view the images in a simple and easy to use format.
George Anger, Lightmaker’s CEO said: “We wanted to take Wayne’s site to the next level and deliver a more engaging content experience to his fans. The dynamic stats section seemed the obvious choice to highlight Wayne’s many achievements on the pitch. This and the other site additions really push the site forward and there’s been some great fan feedback.”
Wayne Rooney said: “My new website looks fantastic. I’m really pleased with the layout and the new features. It’s received some great feedback from the fans already.”
