UK budget- how did Twitter react?

Just 4% of UK budget-related posts on Twitter were in support of Chancellor George Osborne, and 56% of tweets were personal insults, according to new data.

Following last week’s UK budget, social media media analysis platform Crimson Hexagon used its ForSight platform to analyse the conversations and sentiment surrounding Chancellor George Osborne and the British public’s views on the budget.
The ForSight platform analysed 245,965 posts across Twitter and Facebook, finding 96% of the conversation focused on Chancellor Osborne and 82% of the conversation around the new UK budget was negative.
Other findings from Crimson Hexagon’s social media analysis include:
• Just 4% of posts were in support of George Osborne
• 56% of tweets aimed at Mr. Osborne consisted of personal insults – 5% of posts were direct calls urging him to step-down
• 11% of the positive UK budget discussion was in response to the lowered tax on beer
• Mr. Osborne’s new Twitter account and first tweets came with a negative feedback rate of 27%
