Twitter buys video sharing site Vine

Twitter has bought Vine, a start-up company that lets users share video content online.

Vine is a three-man company, based in New York, which formed in June and yet to launch publicly. Terms of the deal were not disclosed.
On its website, Vine describes itself as “the best way to capture and share video on your iPhone.”
The video sharing service specializes in very short clips spanning only a few seconds each. Vine then automatically generates a longer video stitched together from those small video snippets that were uploaded.
Vine is not a public company and was only started back in June by co-founders Dominik Hofmann and Colin Kroll, who used to work at JetSetter, Gilt Groupe’s travel site.
Industry observers speculate that Twitter see’s this abbreviated video sharing format as highly compatible with the microblogging site.
