The International Academy of Digital Arts and Sciences (IADAS) – the international organisation responsible for presenting the world-renowned Webby Awards, Internet Week New York and Internet Week Europe – is launching an awards event to honour the best of Europe’s internet community.

The first call for entries will take place on 24th March.

Hailed as “one of the most prestigious awards in the world” by the BBC, The Webby Awards is today widely regarded as the global index of success on the Internet, receiving nearly 10,000 entries from over 60 countries worldwide.
The Lovie Awards has been created to specifically honour achievement in Europe, as recognition of the unique and resonant nature of the European internet community.
Nicolas Roope, The Lovie Awards Chair, and co-chair of Internet Week Europe as well as creative director of Poke, says, “The Lovie Awards will represent the fullest range and expression of the European internet and mobile industries, recognising the social, commercial and cultural phenomena of the internet. They will honour work from Europe’s top web and creative networks and content publishers from cultural and political organisations to bedroom bloggers. The Lovie Awards is not just another digital award.”
David Michel-Davies, executive director of IADAS, comments, “We are very excited to launch The Lovie Awards as a European sister to the well-established Webby Awards. Notable work, regardless of language, has better opportunity to rise to the top and attract recognition on a higher level.”
