Smartphone maker HTC has launched a UK division dedicated to support smartphone use within the business environment.
“The HTC brand is increasingly gaining traction with consumers across the globe but our heritage lies in the business market,” commented Jon French, executive director, HTC UK, Ireland and South Africa.
“Smartphones are increasingly connecting to business networks, creating more productive mobile workforces and saving organisations money by consolidating the number of devices traditionally used by employees. The business smartphone market represented nearly a third of the total smartphone market in 2009, according to analyst house Canalys, and is expected to grow dramatically in the coming years. With HTC Business, we are ideally positioned to help organisations of all sizes take this step.”
An early partner of Microsoft, HTC brought the first Windows Phone-based smartphone to market in 2002 and introduced the first Android-based handset in 2008. Android is now one of the fastest growing platforms in the smartphone market.
As more personal smartphones connect to the business network, the business market is expected to be a key growth area for Android.
